To come or not to come with your music.

Some set up at some hotel by some river place.

We did the video only. Projector x01, projector brain x01 and video brain x01. Supplied by us.

Sound done by the hotel. In hse tech or who ever. No sound source from us. Pure video.

So by Sunday night, all ready. Video good to go.

Hotel did their checks. All good to go. MC came. Did his checks. All good to go too. Music was from the MC, his laptop into his little $450.00 funny looking mixer. Two lines to the hotel`s desk and also one more line for PC audio( from hotel). All good.

MC was to do his stuff, and we help to just press play on his laptop. Walk in music. Launch music. Background music and walkout music. Ok, we can do that no problem.

So Monday, reported at 0803hrs. Rehearsals at 0930hrs. We tested the video. Good.

The In hse tech was there. mc, not there. fuk him.

0845hrs. Clients came. ok. they just looking around. Reh is at 0930hrs.

By now, video is good, and sound was not too good. Sounded not very nice. in fact, sounds like shit.

0945hrs- MC came. Don’t forget, the MC is also the person in charge of the show. Its his show. His client. We`re there to do video, and maybe sound support.

MC brought his $450.00 mixer. Than he could not find his laptop. wtf? Not in his bag.

Simi Lan? how to play music? no walk up music, no launch music, no any music !

He took out his ipod. There you go. problem solved.

Nope.

His thinking is, fuk, use ipod first. than ill get my laptop send down for show time 1100hrs.

ipod dead. flat. knn.

he look at me, I look at him.. ( inside I shake head). he looked at me some more. I looked at him some more.

“ so wad the fuk u wanna me to do ? “ did not say that of course.

He took out his usb to ipod connector. But nope, did he have his 3 pin 13a plug? narrrrrrr

“ plug into that mac la. charge a bit can? let just do reh first”

knn. nope. not allowed.

Wad a shitty mess.

That mac is for the show. Slides and stuff. It’s a “ show” item. no can do so sorry.

Alas! Video number two had a plug!!! so we got the ipod working.

So, MC started his rehearsals. Clients pissed off liao.

We were like idiots. How the fuk are we to find the songs you want instantly?

Walk up music. ok. but under wad name u keep them under?

Launch music. fuk la. the song he told us to use was like funeral music.

It did not go very well. Whole rehearsal was shit. Including the sound which ill come to in a bit.

One of our full timers came. Lucky. He had his laptop which had some music. Boy was it plugged in fast. So Mr MC did more rehearsals with the proper music.

The Sound.

The venue. One large room that can be divided up into two. For the Sundays reh, the other room was not in use. ie, the whole system was turned on.

On Monday, there was another show in that room. not amplified. pure acoustic speech thinge.

By turning off that half of the venue, I concluded that, x03 out of x04 speakers in “ our” room was turned off. !!

So it sounded like shit. Was a damm fukin big joke. don’t know the install of the venue, but sound coming out the one box that was working had no hi`s. just the low`s.

Racked amps, non labbled cables from them going into the wall mount, which I take it leads to all the speakers in the whole venue, both rooms.

Not the consultant, cant touch stuff. Eq? nope. was locked up. nice plastic sheet over it with locks. amps to trace? nope. cant get to the back. basically cant get to any shit.

As there was another show going on next “door”, how to trace? lol. we did. found only one cable that worked one speaker. Found one box that sounded better, its had hi`s and some loew`s. the rest, not going to do shit testing when next door is live. lol imagine if next door u get music during their speech!

So the whole show was using one spk. one that worked. one with hi`s and some shitty low`s.

Kicked the in hse tech out of the way to sort out the hotel`s issue.

any ways, he was not the tech. snd tech did not come that day. he was one of the senior serving boys I think. hey ho.

Bring your damm music if you say you going too. We knew about this “show” for at lease 2 weeks. Bloody work lei Mr MC slash snd op slash music provider slash event coordinator slash production hse.
